Swedish newcomer JÁNA debuts with Little Dragon-assisted song ‘Wild Roses’.
Swedish artist JÁNA (pronounced yah-na) will release her debut EP, Flowerworks, in July. To intoduce the project, she has just released “Wild Roses,” a dreamy and hazy slice of R&B crafted in collaboration with none other than Swedish heavyweights Little Dragon. ““It was both fun and nerve wracking writing ‘Wild Roses’ ,” she explained. “I let myself be personal. It’s about this person I was beginning a relationship with, my first impression of her and what our relationship might become. This is actually the first song I’ve ever used a pronoun in, mostly because I thought it sounded ugly before, but now I feel like this song has been a part of helping me to not be so secretive about who I like anymore. The wild rose is an ancient symbol for something told in secret so I felt that it made perfect sense.”
