Swedish producer Badlands drops trippy double single “Fantasma I/Fantasma II”.
Living in between Malmö and Dublin, Swedish producer Catharina Jaunviksna, aka Badlands, is readying the release of her forthcoming eponymous album. “The LP is a groping reenactment of some recent & heartbreaking years in my life,” she detailed about the follow up to her 2016’s album Locus.
In order to introduce this full-length project, the experimental synth-pop artist has unveiled an epic double single, “Fantasma”. A late-night italo disco anthem, the cosmic track sounds like a glimpse of light in a dark future. “Where Hearts was the eye of the storm – a breather of love at all cost, the Fantasma tunes represent the gloom and desperation. Locking myself in with my gear and make almost vocalless disco was a way for me to cope.. but there’s still some reassurance and light in there. ” A timely track considering the weird times we’re going through.
