Nordik Simit favourite PIKES shares 80s-infused new banger “Studio”.
Christoffer Ling, aka Pikes, returns with a new bop, which will bring you back in time. For “Studio”, the Swedish artist, songwriter and producer combines 80s synths, lo-fi indie pop, and some infectious hooks only him holds the secret of. About this new banger, he detailed with a lot of humour and
lucidity:
“Studio is a song about how weird I think todays session based songwriting is. Also there is something quiet funny about the millennial producer lifestyle. People (usually dudes) renting closets to live in for 500 € in the capital and spending. The problem is that we (yes, myself included) although I don’t do that many songwriting sessions, put far too much prestige in the lifestyle we practice. As if it was something special, I mean let’s be honest, today everybody has a studio and is a prouder/songwriter and or artist in some way. It’s just like any other corporate job out there. Also, I’m looking for someone to rent my studio part time. “
