New: Okay Kaya – Believe

Norwegian songstress Okay Kaya signs to Jagjaguwar and shares a jazz-soaked version of Cher’s classic dance tune “Believe”.

Kaya Wilkins, aka Okay Kaya, grew up on a peninsula close to Oslo where she has learnt to explore “melancholy through melody” during the brutal winters. Following up on her amazing debut album Both released last year, the King Krule regular collaborator has just signed to Indiana-based label Jagjaguwar and released a cover of Cher’s anthem “Believe”. Don’t expect any dance hooks and autotuned vocals, though. Okay Kaya opts instead for jazz influences and delivers a soft, vulnerable vocal performance as she has the secret. About the original song, she said:

“It’s the perfect song. It’s hopeful. It’s sad. It’s a break-up anthem — and a fuck you.”
