This year Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, hosts it’s 10th Tallinn Music Week. Little unknown compared to Scandinavian countries, Estonia is bravely following in the footsteps of other cities, such as Helsinki, Stockholm, and probably the most, Oslo.
Tallinn has been filled with great discoveries for all – for culture travellers, backpacking hipsters, musicians and audiences. Las year we got some amazing artists and fun experiences. But this year, as it is the tenth anniversary, we are stepping it up a notch.
Over 250 artists from Estonia and elsewhere are performing, there are tons of panels, a lot of art to discover, a lot of food to be eaten and drinks to be had.
So, if you have time from 2nd to 8th of April 2018 and would like to see, what this rising star of a town named Tallinn has to offer, feel free to follow this small guide – or suggestion list – for the greatest experiences here.

For eating
You should definitely hit up Telliskivi or Kalamaja area. Both of those offer amazing selection of rather reasonably priced restaurants and cafes, but my personal favourite of recent is F-Hoone. However, Tallinn Music Week also has a special foodie program called TMW TASTES, that have several new restaurants, coffee shops and pop up stores as well as activities.

For drinking
Depending what you are into! If you like beer, it is a must to check out Pudel baar with the greatest selection of Estonian craft beers, but if you are into cocktails and wine, you cannot go wrong with Shvips.

For coffee
It is advised to pass all kinds of normal coffee kiosks. Instead we advise you to also see the old town a little and stop by Chocolaterie, located between many wonderful Estonian artists small shops.

For dancing
If you are not into clubs, you are coming during the best time, as the cosy bar and room for dancing is always available at Kelm, rather charming and perfectly hidden bar.

For music
You are coming during the best time – Tallinn Music Week. However, did you know that Estonia regained their independence thanks to music and singing? There is the festival named Song and Dance Festival, and if not before, then 2019 summer is your chance. Hundreds of choirs, bands and orchestras are gathering to celebrate in the most Estonian way possible.

For escaping
Estonia has a lot of nature. If you are by foot and do not have the time to take a ferry to one of the small islands nearby, you can always go to Viru bog and have a nice and peaceful walk, swim, and even a picnic.

For record shopping
There are little gems hidden in old town, but you can also pop by Terminal in the Tallinn’s main shopping centre, that has a great selection of vinyls.

For clothes shopping
Telliskivi area has flea markets on weekends! And yes, even in winter.

For first date
Why not see our newest addition, making previously very run down area much prettier and populat – train station market aka Balti jaama turg. It has food, couple of stores and also this old-school market vibe. Not too far from the most popular places, it is nice to walk around and explore.

These days Airbnb has grown in popularity and rightfully so.
