Jófríður Ákadóttir’s Solo Album is Here

Praised by Björk herself last year, Jófríður Ákadóttir has been juggling a few projects with her bands; Pascal Pinon  and Samaris, not to forget her collab with GANGLY and she has been killing it. Not after a year after producing the album Black Lights for Samaris, Jófríður has just released her solo album Brazil which she has been working on for some time, under the name of JDFR.

The album is entirely in English and if you think this will steal away her Icelandic charm from her voice, you are wrong. In her previous interviews, she talked about the power that English language holds, the push and pull, and the feelings she is able to convey and they all came through in the album. Jófríður Ákadóttir has always been the poet and this fact didn’t change. Every song tells a story with beautiful imagery that runs deep where you can see her creative way with words. Accompanied by barely there guitar parts and minimalistic samples that feel like stretching over a winter scenery, she tells the stories of heartbreak and new beginnings.
