for eating: ‘Gossip’ is a quite small Bengali restaurant on Skånegatan in the south of Stockholm with the best food I’ve ever eaten. There’s a lot of vegetarian food and everything’s at half price at lunch time and you get a free Mango Lassi for dessert.
for drinking: ‘Tjoget’ in Hornstull have the best Whiskey Sours ever. It’s kind of pricy but if you feel like you can afford it, it’s really worth it. I go there to celebrate things, like when I finish a big job or for someones birthday.
for coffee: ‘Kaffebar’ at Pålsundsgatan. The interior is simple, the menu is short, like “coffee, tea, toast”, they only take cash and they make the best cappuccino in town.
for dancing: ‘Marie Laveau’ on Hornsgatan. It’s in the basement of their restaurant and gets really hot but the clubs are a lot of fun. It’s mostly R&B/Hiphop clubs and that’s the music I love dancing to most of the time so it fits me perfectly. For house/techno I go to ‘Under Bron’ in Skanstull wich is located under a bridge by the freeway. It’s really big, trying to be kind of Berlin/Berghain and with the right DJ it can be amazing.
for music: ‘Nobelberget’ is a club/venue is located in a industry area like 15 minutes from the center of Stockholm. They book a lot of cool artists and are really up to date, like this weekend I’m going there to see Skepta.
for escaping: ‘Centralbadet’, an old indoor swimming pool/spa at Drottninggatan in the center of Stockholm. It’s a busy street and you really don’t want to be there when people go to/leave work but inside ‘Centralbadet’ there’s a whole new world. The interior is art deco and there’s a small restaurant inside where you can drink juices and eat eco friendly food.
for record shopping: I never go record shopping actually so this is really not my area, but there’s an iconic vinyl/record shop just around the corner from where I live in Hornstull called ‘Mickes Skivor’ where alot of people buy there music. I pass it almost everyday and sometimes it’s open late at night, I think thats comforting and cozy, feels like being in a movie almost.
for clothes shopping: ‘Humana Secondhand’ at Timmermansgatan, also in the south of Stockholm. They have a lot of 90’s clothes, great jackets, sports wear and sequin dresses, I love it there.
for first date: If it’s summer I would definitely go on a boat trip in the achipelago, Stockholm is built of islands so there’s boats everywhere and the price is really affordable. There’s museums, restaurants, a tivoli (Gröna Lund) and hotels on the different islands so you can do basically everything.
for inspiration: I love movies and there’s an old, beautiful cinema at Medborgarplatsen called Victoria where I usually go to see movies, it has a fountain with mermaids in it at the entrance and I love mermaids, so that’s a plus.
for walking: Stockholm is quite small and really beautiful with old buildings, bridges and water everywhere, so if the weather’s nice you can walk anywhere and everywhere here.
for sleeping:’ Vraket’ on Södermälastrand. It’s a bar/restaurant/hostel with a great view. The rooms are small and not very luxurious but I love the simple cozyness of that place and I love sleeping on water.
for the best view: Mariaberget is a hill/mountain by the lake Mälaren that runs thru Stockholm. Me and my friends always go there in the first day of summer to sit on the sun-warmed cliffs and watch the sky turn pink in the evening.
your favorite local place: ‘Stage Bar’. It’s like two doors down from Mickes Skivor and it’s really my favorite bar in stockholm. The interior is kind of wierd, like a mix of many different styles and they have the best playlist with all my favorite R&B and Hiphop songs. The beer is cheap and the Nachos are great. I’m there at least once a week.
